Kourtnay King

After spending more than a decade building expertise in publications management, training, and grant writing, Kourtnay joined Layman Publishing Partners, where she has spent nearly 20 years working on large-scale educational and reference programs. As Director of Content and Licensing, she managed a $1.5 million annual rights and permissions budget, overseeing more than 5,000 contracts annually and implementing cost controls that reduced permissions expenses by approximately 45%. In her current role as Managing Director, she oversees production workflows for programs producing more than 100 titles annually and driving licensing and workflow improvements that have substantially reduced overall program costs. As a member of the senior management team, she participates in strategic planning, new business initiatives, and RFP development, and works closely with editorial, production, and publishing partners to keep complex programs running smoothly.

Kourtnay holds a B.A. in English from the University of South Carolina.

She lives on Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, with her husband, Paul, and her menagerie of pets.
