Hollis Beach

Hollis Beach grew up in Charleston, SC. He attended college at the University of South Carolina, graduating in 2010 with degrees in English and Philosophy. In 2012, he joined Layman Publishing Partners, where he now serves as Executive Editor. He is responsible for departmental management, content creation, strategy, and research, among other activities. With Eric Bargeron, he edited American Decades: 2010-2019 and oversaw the creation of Disability Experiences, an award-winning reference work on life writing about illness and disabilities.
A certified master naturalist, Beach also manages the University of South Carolina’s W. Gordon Belser Arboretum, where, among other duties, he helps oversee a popular reading group led by scholars, conservationists, and naturalists from South Carolina and beyond. In his free time, he organizes, promotes, and performs in experimental music concerts in Columbia.
