After spending nearly a decade in academia teaching undergraduates about American history and providing research support to various programs, Eric joined Layman Publishing Group to work on educational and reference projects like the eight-volume documentary encyclopedia Conflicts in American History and ongoing series including American Decades, the Dictionary of Literary Biography, and Gale Literature Criticism. With Hollis Beach, he oversaw the production of Disability Experiences, a runner-up for the Dartmouth Medal. As a member of the senior management team, he helps oversee the editorial program, advises on company strategy, and continues to work with experts to develop the best possible content for our clients.

Eric holds an M.A. (2004) in American History from the University of South Carolina and a B.A. (2002) in English Literature and History from Mercer University. He attended the 2008 NEH Summer Institute on teaching the Civil Rights Movement at Harvard’s DuBois Center. He lives in Mexico City.
